SAN ANTONIO – A small business in San Antonio is working to recover after it was robbed early Saturday morning. TCG Exchange specializes in trading cards in the game, now the owner is figuring out how to keep the business afloat.
“They came in here and just started taking stuff and right now we estimated about $15,000 worth of merchandise,” said Joe Adam, owner of TCG Exchange.
Adam said early Saturday morning his security cameras picked up movement. Adam immediately called the San Antonio Police Department, and in the eight minutes it took officers to respond, the thieves made off with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.
“I don’t like to show my emotions, but it actually kept me going. hold me They’re strong and it’s been a long time,” Adam said.
Controlling his emotions, Adam said he can only thank his customers and the community for all the support he has received. According to Adam, it appears from the security camera footage that the thieves knew the value of what they were taking.
“They seemed to know what they were getting into, in a way, so they probably did their homework. They’ve been here before and I’m sure they’re probably the ones who have done it with other stores as well,” Adam said.
Hoping to get information that could lead to the arrest of the thieves, Adam shared the security video on social media. Adam said he couldn’t believe what happened next.
“I’ve had people come in, customers come in, donating cards, donating products for us to resell, to recoup something, and I’ve just been very grateful for that,” Adam said.
The trading card community and other trading card businesses are reaching out to Adam to show support. Adam said he was speechless because people were also donating items to restock and help keep the business running.
Moving forward, Adam said he hopes to see improved security measures in the area.
“Maybe more street lighting and maybe more police in the area to avoid things like breaking and entering,” Adam said.
